In co-operation with Royal Van der Leun, DAMEN and Schottel, RAMME produce the PM motors for the Thrusters for the four, fully electric, passenger car ferries of Canada’s BC Ferries.
The four vessels are scheduled to begin operations by 2027 with two vessels each on the routes connecting Nanaimo Harbour and Gabriola Island, and Campbell River and Quadra Island.
On 25 April 2024, we at Ramme Electric Machines GmbH welcomed five boys and girls from different types of schools as part of the national Girls and Boys Day organized by the Federal Employment Agency. The participants were given an exciting insight into our two production sites in Osterwieck and Wernigerode.
During their visit, the students were able to get to know various departments of our company and learn first-hand how our innovative electrical PM machines are manufactured. Our employees were on hand to answer questions from the curious guests and gave them practical insights into their day-to-day work.

We are happy to announce that we have been awarded to supply the main propulsion for Kongsberg Azimuth Thruster to Sefine Shipyard – Turkiye for their NB71 project which is a 99,99 meters Construction Support Vessel and built for Norwegian Offshore company Agalas.

The Cable Lay Support Vessel (CLSV) is designed for cable/fiber cable laying, trenching, inspection, and repair as well as offering a flexible platform for support operations in the ocean windfarm industry.
We are thrilled to announce an exciting development in the world of Antarctic exploration. Antarctica21 introduce the newest member of their fleet. The Magellan Discoverer, which will be travelling to Antarctica in the 2026-27 season. And we at RAMME were able to contribute 4 highly efficient PM generators from our HW 860 series to this piece of jewellery. We wish you a safe journey at all times.
In January 2024, we had the pleasure of welcoming the team from MDR Sachsen-Anhalt to our production facilities in Osterwieck and Wernigerode. As part of their “MDRum4” programme series, they produced an exciting report about our work and our high-quality electric PM motors for the maritime industry.

Osterwieck, 25 November 2023 – Under new ownership, Ramme Electric Machines GmbH from Osterwieck has specialized in the manufacture of electric PM systems. Thanks to its customized products, it is gaining demand and recognition worldwide.
Osterwieck, 26 September 2023 – RAMME Electric Machines GmbH, is pleased to announce the opening of its second production facility in Wernigerode. This expansion marks a big step in the company’s growth strategy and underlines its commitment to innovation and regional economic development.
New capacities for future growth
The new production facility in Wernigerode, which was built on an area of 2,000 square metres, will significantly expand the company’s production capacity. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and optimized production processes, the plant is designed to meet the increasing demand for highly efficient electric drive solutions.
On a production area of 4,000 m² in Osterwieck and 2,000 m² in Wernigerode our employees will find the best working conditions. Flexible structures allow us to develop new processes quickly and effectively and realize them in innovative products.
